Drawing Camp: Learn to draw in 9 weeks!
The course takes a unique and holistic approach to developing your drawing skills, taking into account the interplay between body, mind, and soul. This course is ideal as an after-work activity to relax both body and mind!
Why draw? The instructor likes to think of drawing as the framework or grammar of the visual arts. It is a precise method for deciphering what you see. Drawing challenges you to truly understand the logic of what you see. Drawing helps you develop a steady hand, a precise eye, and a logical understanding of shapes and shading.
The course begins with a full-body warm-up exercise, followed by a concentration meditation in which participants practice guiding their hand as their mind directs them. They then move on to the main part of the course: practicing the depiction of specific objects, living beings, and environments. In doing so, they will explore various techniques for drawing with pencil on paper (hatching, lines, smudging, and shading).
Everything the participants see can be drawn on paper using different approaches.
The course instructors will teach you all the techniques so you can discover which approach suits you best (grid; visual estimation and angles; measuring with your hand and pencil; “becoming” what you see; drawing as writing).
At the end, everyone will share their experiences (debriefing).
