Piano Works by Jolivet, Debussy, and Schubert
Alexander Lonquich’s concerts are always special—not only because he is one of the leading pianists of his generation, but also because of his stated goal to only pursue projects that are close to his heart.
In his new solo program, he juxtaposes Debussy’s colorful and virtuosic Études with Schubert’s G-major Sonata of 1826, creating an exciting contrast. The concert opens with six piano pieces by French composer André Jolivet, written in 1935 as a tribute to his teacher Edgard Varèse.
