“[materialistin] . Matter of Care, Care of Matter” presents sculptures and site-specific installations by [materialistin], a group of eight female sculptors from Leipzig. The exhibition, featuring Laura Eckert, Enne Haehnle, Elisabeth Howey, Lucy König, Agnes Lammert, Wibke Rahn, Theresa Rothe, and Sophie Uchman, emphasizes the importance of artistic community and forms of collaboration. The artists work with steel, stone, plaster, and concrete, as well as plant fibers, textiles, found objects, light, and text, showcasing the diversity of contemporary sculpture in Leipzig.

[ materialistin ] is a group of eight female artists from Leipzig who have been working in the expanded field of sculpture since 2019.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart, the group exhibition focuses on forms of artistic community and collaboration.

The group operates in solidarity and is not organized hierarchically. Its heterogeneity draws on the diverse experiences the artists bring from their regions of origin in northern, southern, western, and eastern Germany, as well as from their academic backgrounds. Furthermore, the group’s cross-generational structure plays a role, as it includes both digitally native and material-native members.

The artists will lead tours of the exhibition on various dates:

Theresa Rothe on Sunday, October 11, 2026 (12 p.m. in German and 1 p.m. in English); Agnes Lammert and Laura Eckert on Sunday, November 8, 2026 (12 p.m. in German and 1 p.m. in English); Laura Eckert and Enne Haehnle on Sunday, January 24, 2027 (12:00 p.m. in German and 1:00 p.m. in English); Enne Haehnle and Agnes Lammert on Sunday, February 14, 2027 (12:00 p.m. in German and 1:00 p.m. in English). All tours are free with an exhibition ticket. Meet in the museum foyer; no registration required.
