The play is a delightful declaration of love for the theater from the perspective of a prop master and, with plenty of humor and sly wit, whisks us away into the dazzling world behind the scenes of the theater. But this is by no means just a collection of anecdotal and superficial behind-the-scenes stories and rambling.
Suddenly, this unassuming Josef Bieder even “comes out” as a failed artist himself. Due to unforeseen circumstances, he becomes king for a night and soars to unimagined heights on the stage—which, for someone like him, means the world.
Along the way, there is an endless array of astonishing, laughable, crazy, and unexpected things to discover. A true highlight of theater.
