To mark the 250th anniversary of Luise von Mecklenburg-Strelitz’s birth, a festive Queen Luise Ball invites guests to immerse themselves in the social culture of the early 19th century.

The event will take place at Schönhausen Palace, whose historic ballroom provides the setting for an evening in the style of the Empire era. Historical ballroom dances will be performed, led by dance instructor Birte Hoffmann-Cabenda, who has been studying historical dance forms for many years and regularly organizes balls of this kind.

Musical accompaniment will be provided by the ensemble Les Matelots on historical instruments. The program will be complemented by a booth featuring Hamburg-style finery, including jewelry modeled after historical designs.

Those with no prior experience in historical dance can participate in a free introductory workshop before the ball. There, the dances of the evening will be taught so that even beginners can join in without any trouble.

Attire appropriate for the occasion, in the style of the Empire or Napoleonic era, is requested. Changing facilities are available in the castle. Dinner can also be booked upon request, including a vegan option.

An evening for everyone who doesn’t just want to observe history, but wants to become part of it for a few hours.
