Water sports are political. Both professional sports photography and personal snapshots reveal just how deeply water sports have been shaped by political systems and societal ideals since their inception. How is this reflected in photography?

Participants will gain insights into the exhibition and explore the interplay between the medium of photography and the staging of water sports.

What is the aesthetic of postcards from the Imperial era? How did the Nazis use the medium and the sport to spread their racist ideology about people and bodies? Can you tell from photos whether the photographer came from the East or the West?
