“I’d be happy if my songs were simply a part of someone’s life. Whether they cried or laughed while listening to the record, whether they found strength or let it go, I don’t care. As long as they’re part of some life.” (Gundermann in an interview – Freies Wort, 1993)

Gerhard Gundermann—high school student, dropout from officer training, unskilled laborer, excavator operator in lignite mining, former Stasi informant, expelled SED member, singer-songwriter, rock poet. He sang about the no-longer-so-young, small, pale women, the gray-and-colorful facades in Hoywoy, about the here and now, his father, about rocking horses and stray dogs with eyes like salt.

Jörg Endesfelder and Arne Spekat, the Wetterbass, play and sing his songs.
