The Proud Haram Festival is an interdisciplinary queer arts festival that provides a platform for LGBTQIA+ and migrant artists. It will take place from June 11–14 at Ballhaus Prinzenallee and will feature theater, performance, dance, music, and installations.

While previous editions primarily featured Turkish-German queer artists, the 2025 edition will expand its focus to include the MENA region and its diasporas, with a special emphasis on the struggles of migrant queer communities.

This festival stands against censorship, discrimination, and political oppression of queer art. As spaces for queer artists in various regions are shrinking due to increasing restrictions and conflicts, they aim to resist together and create art in Berlin. They strive to foster an environment in which queer art not only survives but also thrives—with a commitment to justice and peaceful coexistence.

Festival Director:

The 2025 edition of the Haram Proud Festival is directed by Ufuk Tan Altunkaya, a theater maker and performance artist who engages deeply with narratives of identity, migration, and belonging. With a strong background in contemporary performance and intercultural artistic practices, Ufuk is committed to amplifying and celebrating queer migrant voices.
