Works by Corelli, Telemann, Vivaldi, and Others
Together with long-time musical collaborators, violist Nils Mönkemeyer presents virtuoso violin sonatas from the 17th and 18th centuries in arrangements for his instrument.
In addition to Vivaldi, Telemann, and others, the program also features two significant female musicians of the time who are virtually unknown today: the French harpsichordist Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre and the composer-nun Isabella Leonarda, who, in 1693, became one of the first women ever to publish instrumental music with her Sonatas, Op. 16.
