Piano Works by Martinů, Boulanger, Szymanowski, and Rachmaninoff
With performances in Europe, Asia, and the United States, Nathalia Milstein has made a name for herself internationally in recent years.
In her solo program, the young French pianist—who studied at the Barenboim-Said Academy, among other institutions, and will be performing in a piano trio at the Pierre Boulez Saal this March—interprets music from the era of World War I.
While Bohuslav Martinů, Lili Boulanger, and Karol Szymanowski embark on a search for lost beauty in their works, Rachmaninoff’s “Picture Etudes,” for all their virtuosity, also express the composer’s despair in times of global upheaval.
