Femmes d’Orient
“Since the dawn of civilization, women have walked through history as an unobtrusive yet eternal light,” writes Syrian singer, musicologist, and oud virtuoso Waed Bouhassoun about her new program.
On International Women’s Day, together with a group of outstanding female musicians from Senegal, Armenia, Iran, Kurdistan, and Germany, she traces the footprints women have left in the cultures of the Near and Middle East: as givers of life, resolute rulers, and the living memory of their societies.
