The Music Festival in the Auguste Neighborhood
At the festival opening on Friday, June 12, at 3 p.m., Monsieur Pompadour will perform chanson-swing in the idyllic monastery garden following a family concert by Richards Musikhof (2 p.m.). In a courtyard just around the corner, the satirical duo Plückhahn & Vogel will perform virus-free songs.
The audience can look forward to Davagariko’s reinterpretations of Sephardic Jewish songs in the garden of the Mehrgenerationenhaus Reinickendorf, before SubMcLad transports everyone to the wonderful world of Irish folk in the café at the NochMall.
In front of the Segenskirche, I Pizzicati invite you to dance to southern Italian tarantella, and to wrap up the first day of the festival, the Leipzig band Komplizen will play gritty garage pop full of blues notes in the reading garden.
On Friday, June 13 at 3 p.m., Trio Scho will take the audience on a musical journey from the Arctic Ocean through Berlin to Paris and across the ages in front of the Wohn!Aktiv-Haus. In the Klixarena, the band Afrikadelle will then perform West African dance music with Afrobeats and other influences.
Melancholic German pop by singer-songwriter Jana Berwig will be performed in the library’s reading garden; in a courtyard, the five-piece band IntiYaku will present traditional music from Ecuador with modern influences; and in the Manege, soulful songs by young female musicians from the neighborhood will be featured.
To wrap up the festival, Boxibarré will entice all dance enthusiasts onto the dance floor at the Gerda Keller Dance School with ’20s jazz and ’80s punk.
