Exhibition Opening

The exhibition features images that Sabine Bredernitz has created by transforming photos from Berlin Fire Department operations into linocuts and coloring them.

Linoleum printing is a type of printmaking and a form of relief printing. It is very similar to woodcut printing. A negative pattern is carved into the linoleum plate using a special tool.

Linoleum is a relatively firm material and can be easily cut in any direction. The finished negative pattern is inked with special ink and then printed onto paper by hand or using a printing press.
