In June, the Komische Oper Berlin is launching a new concert series titled “Metropol 26.” The series is being held in conjunction with the ongoing renovation of the opera house’s main venue on Behrenstraße, which these events will help to culturally complement. The aim of the series is to open the construction site once a year for musical performances, thereby creating connections to both historical and contemporary contexts.

The concerts’ program draws on the history of the building, which was known as the Metropol Theater about 100 years ago. The focus is on revues and operettas from the 1920s, complemented by selected pieces from the Komische Oper Berlin’s current repertoire.
The concerts are organized by ensemble members and offer a glimpse into different musical eras.
Due to the unique venue, safety gear is mandatory; it will be provided on site. Participation is open to those 16 and older, and a sure footing is required.
