Pastel & Watercolor en plein air

Max Liebermann’s garden, overlooking Lake Wannsee, is a constant source of inner peace and artistic inspiration—not only for the artist himself, but for everyone who has the privilege of experiencing it.

On four Fridays during the summer, an open-air painting class takes place in the garden of the Liebermann Villa on Lake Wannsee, inviting participants to try their hand at art.

The class focuses on pastel and watercolor techniques and includes an introduction to color theory and quick sketching. The goal is to transfer fleeting impressions of shapes and colors onto paper and develop balanced compositions. Drawing inspiration from Liebermann’s own pastel works, participants will attempt to depict reflections of the water, the sky, the flora, and the people on the lawn. The focus is not on perfection, but on capturing and conveying the memories and moods of a place.

The course is open to anyone interested in classical or contemporary drawing and painting techniques en plein air. No prior experience is required.
