The city’s most colourful comic festival at the Museum of Communication in Berlin
The centerpiece of Comic Invasion Berlin 2026 is Artist Alley: Around 80 comic artists from around the world, collectives, and publishers will showcase their comic works here.
The country focus for 2026 is South Korea and its rich manhwa culture.
Artists from Korea and the Korean diaspora in Europe will demonstrate how comics can depict migration, cultural translation, memory, and belonging.
The program is presented in cooperation with the Korean Cultural Center Berlin.
Other highlights of the program include:
• An engaging panel discussion on the topic “Telling Diaspora Stories Through Comics”
• Reading and discussion with the 2026 Bertold Leibinger Comic Book Award winner Shevek K. Selbert
• Release and book presentation of “Glaub mir” by Jutta Pilgram
• A mobile tattoo studio by The Geese
• Patrick Wirbeleit reads from the popular children’s comic “Kiste”
• A craft and painting station on Sunday featuring the festival mascot Fledi, the bat
• A collaborative performance based on the comic “Langer Atem” by Jeong-In Mun and Hyemi Jo
On Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 12 p.m., the winners of the 2026 Berlin Comic Scholarship from the Berlin Senate Administration
for Culture and Social Cohesion. The winners’ works will be on display from May 9 to August 30,
2026 in the scholarship recipients’ exhibition organized by the Museum für Kommunikation Berlin and the Deutscher Comicverein e. V.

This year’s Newcomer Comic Competition is themed “FRAMES UNBOUND – Comics Without Borders!” The
winners will be announced on Sunday, May 10, at 12 p.m.
On Sunday, May 10, 2026, the Museum für Kommunikation Berlin will also offer a family program featuring comic workshops
for all age groups from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. At 1:30 p.m., there will be a guided tour of the special exhibition “Apropos Sex,”
followed by another tour at 3 p.m. offering insights into the highlights of the permanent exhibition.
Comic Invasion Berlin is one of Germany’s most significant comic festivals and has been held annually since 2012. Since 2018, it has been
by Renate Comics e. V. in collaboration with the Museum of Communication.
Admission: Events at Comic Invasion Berlin and the Schatzkammer are free of charge.
Temporary exhibitions and permanent exhibition: museum admission (8 euros/4 euros). Participation fee for public guided tours (2 euros).
