Musethica Concerts with a Wind Quintet

During this week, five young music students from the Berlin university will be taught and accompanied by Diethelm Jonas, oboist and professor of wind chamber music at the Lübeck University of Music.

The young musicians:

Thomas Höniger, bassoon

The Musethica Session offers a rich learning experience for music students. Over the course of five days, they perform up to three concerts daily, mostly far from traditional concert halls and before audiences who, for the most part, have little or no prior exposure to classical music. The concerts take place at venues such as the Berlin Juvenile Detention Center, a facility for people with disabilities, and a socially therapeutic shelter for the homeless.

The primary goal of this training method is to strengthen the music students’ performance skills. In the post-concert discussions, which are an integral part of the Musethica concerts, musicians often gain new perspectives, both on individual works and on their role as professional musicians.

With this concert week, Musethica is participating in the nationwide “Solidarity in Diversity” Day of Action and is also part of the Day of Honor proclaimed by the Federal President on May 23. In doing so, we are sending a message of democracy, respect, and social cohesion.
