The installation “Absurdes Berliner Tagebuch ’64” by the Italian painter Emilio Vedova (1919–2006) is one of his major works and is unique within his oeuvre in terms of its complexity and monumentality.
The work consists of wooden panels painted on both sides and cut asymmetrically, which are connected with iron hinges to form movable structures. Vedova called these pictorial elements, which are placed freely in the space and can only be fully appreciated by walking around them, “Plurimi” (multiple forms). With the development of the Plurimi, Vedova liberated painting from the conventional form of the panel painting.
Admission is included in the museum ticket price.
