Trickster Orchestra / Beyond the Roots / Fiston Mwanza Mujila / Cansu Tanrıkulu, Nik Dunston & Tobias Delius

The second day of the TransTraditionale festival kicks off with an event for children and families. In “Schrumpf! Dazwischen,” the Trickster Orchestra presents short pieces from its festival program, bringing contemporary music and global instruments to life for the audience of tomorrow.

In the studio, poet and writer Fiston Mwanza Mujila meets instrumentalists from Asia and Western Europe, creating unique sonic experiences through entirely new connections between lyrical language and global instrumentation.

In the “Showcase,” the Beyond the Roots Large Ensemble makes its Berlin debut. With its powerful, distinctive ensemble sound, it combines sitar, santur, and djoze with clarinet and violin tones as well as frame drums, creating a multifaceted trans-traditional soundscape.

Following this, composer Zara Ali’s spectacular new work “TechnoCore” will premiere with the Trickster Orchestra, in which she unfolds her electroacoustic language within a transcultural context and explores sound phenomena under extreme existential conditions.

To conclude the day, the TransTraditionale drifts into the “Orbits” with Cansu Tanrıkulu, Nik Dunston, and Tobias Delius, who unite three generations of jazz, Turkish vocal experiments, and Afro-surrealistic soundscapes.
