Dancer, choreographer, and teacher Patrick Acogny will lead the workshop “Contemporary African Dance” as part of the launch of the UNEXPECTED LESSONS – Knowledges of Body and Sound series.

The work of the Senegalese-French artist Patrick Acogny operates at the intersection of contemporary African dance, bodywork, and contemporary choreography. His powerful and dynamic training is open to all levels, because, as he himself says: “In many African cultures, you don’t start out knowing how to dance. You start by being present, listening, and entering the circle.”
The workshop led by this internationally renowned artist is based on the spine as the source of movement, breathing, and polyrhythm, and unfolds from a warm-up through to short choreographic sequences.
The workshop is accompanied by live music.
