City tour of sites commemorating colonialism: between Wilhelmstraße and the “Asia-Pacific”

“Streets” Street names and memorial steles in various parts of Berlin serve as reminders of the city’s colonial past. The tour leads from Wilhelmstraße (Mitte) to the temporary memorial stele exhibition “Paths of Remembrance” in Wedding.

Passing by the memorial steles, which highlight anti-colonial resistance fighters and movements, the city walk thus opens up new perspectives on German colonial history.

The walking tour invites participants to view public space as a place of learning and remembrance and to critically engage with colonial continuities in the urban landscape. Afterward, there will be an opportunity for discussion.

Tickets: Available exclusively in advance via the ticket shop. A valid BVG ticket is also required to participate.

Event notes: The city tour will take place even in the rain. The route between Anton-Wilhelm-Amo-Straße and “Asian-Pacific Streets” will be covered by subway.

As part of the tour, a survey will be conducted in collaboration with the Institute for Social Sciences at Humboldt University of Berlin. Participation is voluntary and anonymous.
