A musical and poetic encounter with Rainer Maria Rilke and the PianoPoetinnen. To mark the 100th anniversary of Rilke’s death, his most beautiful poems are brought to life anew through live piano improvisations.

Piano improvisations respond directly to the rhythms, images, and moods of the poems, playing with Rilke’s worlds. The subtle melancholy, the dazzling images of nature, the existential questions, and the transcendent longing of his poems become audible. Poetry and music journey together from the world of things to the realization of the self and beyond.

“And even if you love your most beautiful dream, and all the dreams that pass, life—if we only understand it rightly—life comes and surpasses them all.”
