Perhaps the final piece by the theater and performance collective OfW – Ohne festen Wohnsitz tells the story of three people in Friedrichshain:
of arriving, high expectations, nights spent partying, the search for freedom, for oneself, and for what one has to offer the world.
But their new home is transforming into a trendy neighborhood that suddenly everyone wants to be a part of. The neighborhood is subjected to a logic of exploitation, in which its creative spaces become merely another component in the portfolio of self-promotion.
The three, however, refuse to vacate their space and intend to hold their ground in the resurgent metropolis. But under the pressure of displacement, capital power, and political upheavals, this niche is shrinking ever smaller and threatens to disappear entirely.
Directed by Philipp Urrutia, dramaturgy by Dennis Rahmel, sounds & visuals by Stéphane Mashyno, set design by Dexter Red, and costumes by Andrew Barry O’Malley.
