In Susanne Schirdewahn’s novel *Karacho* (2026), it is the artist Kira, in her mid-forties, who lives in Berlin with her husband Vau and two teenage sons. One day, Vau says goodbye with the words: I don’t love you anymore. Kira has to fall out of love, and that’s complicated.
In “Mala Visión” (2026), Armin Wühle tells the story of Rafa, who has been in a relationship with Hannes for six years. But then, just as the two are about to move in together, Hannes disappears from one day to the next. Photos of him in Mexico start appearing on Instagram; on a whim, Rafa follows him there to confront his boyfriend: a perilous journey begins. At the heart of this evening is the question of what paths open up when love ends. And a reflection on how the description of extraordinary circumstances can be transformed into a work of literary art.
