»Fleeting sketches« is dedicated to the theme of the sketch, its ephemeral, procedural quality, and its highly subjective format. The exhibition gives priority to the process of designing and the quick approach to an idea in its basic features.

Fascinating possibilities of drafts can of the famous "Napkin at the Italian" - not as a supposedly brilliant litter, but rather as a communicative and dialogical expression - of mind maps for associative representations of complex relationships on the simple and clearly outlined idea as a first impression and preliminary drawing reach the memory made visible and archivable.

In addition to the processuality of sketching, the exhibition places the historical continuity of thinking and visualization in the first drafts in the center of consideration.

The reduction to the essentials is taken up in the presentation of the sketches themselves. In a loose arrangement, they cover the walls of the exhibition space like the sequence of papers and sheets on studio walls, over writing and working desks. Despite or perhaps because of their different methods, styles and contents, the sketches generate manifold lines of association that encircle the image concepts created with a light stroke and enable new readings.

At the same time, »fleeting designs« is understood as a reference and continuation of similar exhibitions realized in the past by members of the Deutscher Künstlerbund, such as the photographic search for traces of public space in »surrounding work« (2009) or the contributions to the concept and meaning of »Heimat« (2017).

The sketch is considered to be a living document, a reservoir of knowledge and signs, uniting experiment and vision, and thus more relevant than ever as an artistic medium.Feedback gebenVerlaufGespeichertComm
