This herbology course is aimed at people with no prior knowledge who are looking for a structured, scientifically sound, and at the same time practical introduction to the identification and use of native wild plants. The seminar was deliberately designed as a compact course that teaches the most important basics in a short period of time without being superficial.
The focus is on the reliable identification of common, easily usable wild plants. Participants learn to recognize characteristic identifying features, systematically classify plants, and identify the most common, easily usable wild plants.

The focus is on the reliable identification of common, useful wild plants. Participants learn to recognize characteristic identifying features, classify plants systematically, and avoid confusion with unsuitable or poisonous species. Special emphasis is placed on teaching basic botanical knowledge rather than memorizing individual species in isolation. The course is held outdoors in the wild. Particular emphasis is placed on imparting a basic understanding of botany rather than memorizing individual species in isolation. The course also serves as a basis for further study of herbalism and is ideal as preparation for more in-depth formats. The seminar is led by biologist and forest ecologist Dr.

Didactic concept
In order to make effective use of the time spent in nature, the practical day is preceded by a digital theory unit. This online module teaches basic botanical concepts, legal framework conditions, and safety-related aspects of wild herb gathering. The session is recorded and is also available to participants after the event. The unit is recorded and is also available to participants after the event. The session is recorded and remains available to participants after the event. The subsequent full-day practical session takes place at selected locations in Berlin or Hamburg. There, the theoretical knowledge is applied directly in the field. The work is carried out "on the plant."

Seminar content
Introduction to botanical identification characteristics (leaf shape, growth, flowers, location) Location
Basic features of plant families and their typical characteristics
Legal basis and safety rules for collecting wild plants Recognizing suitable and unsuitable collection sites
Recognizing suitable and unsuitable collection sites
Reliable identification of around 5–10 common wild plants
Typical lookalikes and their distinguishing features
Simple, everyday applications (e.g., herb butter, tea, oil)
Learning platform and follow-up
All participants receive access to the digital learning platform. There they will find recordings of the online sessions, accompanying documents, presentations, and interactive quizzes. This allows them to deepen their knowledge and consolidate it in the long term.
At the end of the course, participants will have a solid foundation for confidently identifying wild herbs, collecting them responsibly, and using them sensibly—as a starting point for their own experiences or further training.
