The Zig Zag Jazz Club invites you: Ten years have now passed since it first opened its doors to welcome the public.
Together with the audience, they laughed heartily and cried with emotion. They drank the tastiest drinks in town, but also survived a pandemic together. And of course, everyone was able to experience the best local and international jazz musicians live and up close. So there is a lot to talk about and a lot to celebrate.
That's why the club is inviting you to the big 10-year ZigZag anniversary concert!
Join us in celebrating a decade of the music we all cherish, alongside some of our favorite musical regulars from the Berlin jazz scene—artists who have shaped the sound and spirit of our club over the years. Under the direction of Maestro Uri Gincel, one of the city’s leading pianists and the host of our legendary Tuesday jam sessions, Berlin’s finest musicians will gather to toast ten years of outstanding jazz culture. Here’s to the next ten years!
Uri Gincel is one of the most in demand and respected Jazz pianists in Berlin. Gincel´s style can be described as heavily rooted in tradition but with sensibility and understanding of bringing jazz into the modern age. His playing is dynamic, lyrical and above full of energy and power! Born in Tel-Aviv, Gincel came to Berlin in 2009 and quickly became an influential part of the Jazz scene, Uri toured the world with many projects, including "Uri Gincel Trio” and “Bonaparte” and studied under some major musicians as Arnie Lawrence and Walter Blending Jr.
Magro combines many of his musical influences such as Herbie Hancock, J Dilla and Chris Dave. After his first album "Trippin" was released in 2021 and awarded with the "German Jazz Prize" (for "Debut Album of the Year“) he now released his follow- up album "II" (pronounced: Two). Over the years, Magro has collaborated with numerous artists as a drummer and producer, including Kurt Rosenwinkel, Wayne Snow and BIGYUKI. In addition, he has been a producer on many of Leona Berlin's albums and singles - including "Wrong Lane (featuring Snoop Dogg)“.
Danish-born bassist Andreas Lang is a Berliner by choice. With his fat sound he is a powerhouse for any rhythm section. Be it for international acts like Walt Weiskopf, Bill Steward, Jorge Rossy, Hans Ulrik, Kresten Osgood or Håvard Wiik or local heroes like Rudi Mahall, Christian Lillinger, Oliver Steidle, Gunter Hampel, Tobias Delius or John Schröder. He was rightly awarded the "New German Jazz Award" in 2017.
