Book launch and discussion (in German) at the Museum in der Kulturbrauerei.
The years following the end of the GDR were a time of rage and wonder, of enormous hopes and disappointments large and small, a time of coming together and new beginnings in many areas of life. A new beginning also and especially for the trade in erotic articles, pornography and sex toys. This business did not officially exist in the GDR and took off in leaps and bounds in the early 1990s.
Uta Bretschneider and Jens Schöne use the experiences and lives of erotic shop owners to describe the opportunities and limitations as well as the processes of change in rural regions and small towns up to the present day.
The volume provides insights into an intimate chapter in the history of transformation.
