In the Biedermeier period, darning and embroidery were among the basic household skills. This shows how naturally people treated things and concealed small imperfections in an imaginative way. Today, this historical handicraft technique is called visible mending.
In this workshop, people of all ages will learn how to embroider and darn under the expert guidance of the Berlin-based Kunst-Stoffe e. V. association. You will try it out on your own favorite pieces and make small stains or tears in textiles disappear under decorative stitches.
Note: For adults and children aged 6 and over. Limited places available. No registration required. Just drop in and join in!
