Stories, myths, legends, fairy tales and poems about trees with musical accompaniment
Tree dieback and climate change are on everyone's lips – but the forest and the diversity of tree species have always fascinated people in very different ways.
The ancestors often personified everything around them, giving voice to the voiceless or even believing that trees bore children. Some cultures believed that this is how the first humans came into being.
The performers will take you into mythology, to distant times when there were "sacred groves" and humankind seemed closer to nature than it is today, often under the mistaken impression that it can control it.
In addition to lyrical works by authors such as Hans Christian Andersen and Erich Kästner, the program also features music for flute and piano, guiding you through the world of trees.
- Reading: Antje Schneider and Simon Weinert
- Music: Angela Maria Stoll, piano, and Bettina Bergmann, flute
