In September 1741, Johann Sebastian Bach traveled to Berlin and composed the solo cantata "O holder Tag, erwünschte Zeit" for a friend's wedding. It is quite possible that Bach met the entire court orchestra of Frederick II in Berlin and was able to experience their music firsthand.

At the opening concert of SPAM light, Ensemble Wunderkammer reconstructs this special meeting: Bach's solo cantata is juxtaposed with arias and instrumental music by the Berlin court Kapellmeister Carl Heinrich Graun and his fellow orchestra members. Marie Luise Werneburg, one of the finest Bach voices of our time, will be featured as the vocal soloist for the demanding parts.

  • Ensemble Wunderkammer | Marie Luise Werneburg, soprano
  • Arias, cantatas, and instrumental works by Carl Heinrich Graun, Christoph Schaffrath, Johann Gottlieb Janitsch, and Johann Sebastian Bach
