Global Flashmob celebrating Hat Art and supporting Brain Research Charity.
A Global Phenomenon: From Barcelona to Berlin
The World Hat Walk was launched in 2014 in Barcelona, Spain, to celebrate the art of hat-making and bring hat enthusiasts together.
The event in Berlin is once again part of an extraordinary global cultural event: The World Hat Walk now connects nearly 60 cities across six continents simultaneously in a stylish, creative, and communal movement.
The initiative has grown into the world’s largest coordinated hat parade.
Professional milliners, designers, vintage enthusiasts, students, collectors, cosplayers—and even four-legged friends, as long as they’re wearing hats—come together to showcase the art of hatmaking and collectively make a statement for individuality and creative expression.
The focus is on connection, exchange, and joy—and supporting the work of the German Heart Foundation.
As usual, all visitors are invited to show off their best outfits and take part in the competition. This year, there are extra categories specially for Mother’s Day:
Best Mum-and-Daughter Look and, as always, Best
Hat, Best Hat Pair, Best Outfit, Best Family Look,
Best Theatrical Look, Best Mum-and-Daughter Look, Best Vintage Look.
Focus on Berlin: Creativity Meets Responsibility
Berlin stands, like almost no other city, for cultural diversity, an independent creative scene, and social openness. It is precisely here that the World Hat Walk 2026 will have a special impact.
The World Hat Walk is organized under the direction of Tatiana Ashakova Turko. The fashion curator, milliner, and philanthropist is the founder of the Berlin-based label BeretkAh…—which is part of Fashion Council Germany—and combines traditional craftsmanship with sustainable design and social engagement.
On May 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., participants in the World Hat Walk on Pariser Platz will simultaneously tip their hats—a visible, silent moment of solidarity that conveys the message of #HutAbFürEmpathie to the public and supports the work of the German Brain Foundation.
This is how a cultural tradition becomes a contemporary message:
More awareness. More understanding. Kindness First.
- Start: 12:00 PM
- Meeting point: Pariser Platz, in front of the Adlon Hotel, Berlin
- Hat Walk Route: A stylish stroll through the city
- End of event: 5:00 PM
A celebration with a social mission
The World Hat Walk Berlin is not only a fashion event but also a charitable initiative. As in previous years, the event will raise funds for the German Brain Foundation to advance research and provide vital support to those affected by neurological diseases.
