After running for more than three years and attracting over 470,000 visitors, the exhibition "Roads not Taken. Or: It could have turned out differently".

Together with historian Prof. Dr. Dan Diner, the German Historical Museum looked at the forks in the road and paths not taken in German history.
Much has happened since then.

During a discussion at the finissage, Prof. Dr. Dan Diner, who came up with the idea for the exhibition, the President of the German Historical Museum Foundation Prof. Dr. Raphael Gross and the new Director of the Centre for Contemporary History Potsdam Prof. Dr. Gabriele Metzler will look back on the exhibition against the backdrop of the past few years:

would we see things differently with today's knowledge and therefore do things differently - and if so, what? Are there caesuras that have remained unconsidered (also "roads not taken"), and which have now taken on a different significance as a result of the "turning points" we have experienced?

The special topicality of the event also lies in the fact that it adds a further view of time owed to a new present to the review of time presented in the exhibition.
