Concert with the Chamber Choir of the Cathedral Choir

This year, the Chamber Choir of the Berlin Cathedral Choir is dedicating itself to a special work of sacred choral music: Hugo Distler's "The Christmas Story, Op. 10."

Distler, one of the most important German composers of the first half of the 20th century, created "The Christmas Story" in 1933, a work that consciously draws on the tradition of early church music while simultaneously revitalizing it. Inspired by Baroque composers such as Heinrich Schütz, Distler combines clear, articulate declamation with subtle, often surprisingly modern harmonies.
