Drawings and paintings by Wolfgang Domröse
Wolfgang Domröse presents drawings and paintings under the title ‘Mein lieber Schwan’ (My Dear Swan). The exhibition runs from 27 March to 30 April 2026 and provides an insight into the artist's current work.
Wolfgang Domröse has been working as a freelance artist in Berlin-Adlershof since 1980. Since 2023, alongside prophets and legendary clairvoyants, creatures such as turtles and chameleons have increasingly appeared in his works. This is a being that expresses its mood and intentions through colour.
It is therefore no wonder that an artist such as Wolfgang Domröse, who masters both drawing and the fascinating interplay of colours, feels drawn to this fellow creature. But what is it trying to tell us, and what colour shifts does it reveal? Artists are generally said to possess a keen sense of aesthetic and social developments. It is mythical figures or even everyday longings that he brings to paper with a light hand, with his very own touch of opulence – and in doing so, he also likes to make use of gold leaf. In an age characterised by constant change, Wolfgang Domröse presents this as a natural way of life. So what colours can we expect, and what do they mean to us? Wolfgang Domröse sketches it out for us and leaves all questions open. The exhibition is an enjoyable exercise in self-reflection and a treat for lovers of fine art – inviting both contemplation and enjoyment.
