Chant Corse
Corsican singing is world-famous for its deep-rooted tradition. The famous polyphony and traditional monody are expressions of Corsican identity, emotional and archaic.
Xinarca offers a repertoire based on traditional Corsican monophonic singing: sacred songs, mountain and shepherd songs, work songs and their own compositions. He accompanies himself on the cetera, a historical Corsican instrument.
"My sources are the sacred songs and mountain songs (Cantu Sacru and Cantu Nustrale) and the sounds, the calls, the silence, the animals and the way the people in the mountains, the old shepherds, use their voices.
It is a search for the archaic and sacred through deep monophonic singing and compositions that do not aim to remain faithful to tradition in its form, but in its source, its energy, its original mystery and its magical and evocative power."
