Maxim Gorki
What initially appears to be a sophisticated summer retreat quickly descends into emotional and social conflict. Themes such as infatuations, jealousy, violence, sexual abuse, desire, love, patriarchal thinking, toxic relationship patterns, and the yearning for freedom permeate the production. The director addresses these themes deliberately and unflinchingly, employing extreme imagery to make their impact vividly clear.
While the core of the original text remains intact, the stage adaptation is significantly modernized and its performance style is radically different. The characters act more directly, physically, and ruthlessly; conflicts are not merely hinted at but explicitly revealed.
