On Saturday, September 26th and Sunday, September 27st, the historic Schöneweide railway depot is once again hosting the Berlin Railway Festival. For the 21th time, railway fans of all ages will be celebrating a weekend full of nostalgia and technology with their families.

The Steam Locomotive Friends Berlin e.V. will be presenting over 40 locomotives and wagons, including three operational steam locomotives from the 03, 52 and 74 series. Visitors can admire locomotives from different eras - from historic steam engines to ultra-modern diesel and electric locomotives, including the ICE TD Advanced Lab, which tests the latest technologies.

In addition, various railway companies will be giving exciting insights into the working world of the railway, its apprenticeships, track construction, the restoration of locomotives and workshop work. The renovated water tower from 1906 presents itself as a highly visible landmark.

PROGRAMME

If you want to experience the craft of a train driver up close, you can take a ride in the driver's cab or try your hand at being a train driver on the locomotive driving simulator.

A tour of the locomotive shed offers fascinating insights into the workshop of yesteryear - an express train carriage from 1937 is currently being restored here, as is a steam locomotive that has not been in operation for almost 40 years.

For children, there is a field railway, a bouncy castle and exciting hands-on activities.

The dining car from 1935 provides home-style cooking, while the beer garden tempts visitors with grilled specialties.
