Concert in the staircase hall

To mark the 200th anniversary of Museum Island, the monumental artwork by the German-British artist Michael Müller will be presented in the grand staircase hall of the Neues Museum.

This work explores, in abstract form, the central aspect of the myth of the mismatched twins Castor and Polydeuces: the transition between Hades and Olympus, time and space.

Composer Radoslaw Pallarz has used fragments of notation from the Berlin Papyrus Collection and ancient Greek texts on the myth of the Dioscuri as source material to set the twins' story to music. Ancient melodies, atmospheric sounds, and captivating rhythms bring the myth to life. The texts will be sung in their original Greek and read aloud.

Immerse yourself in a unique soundscape in a place that uniquely combines architecture, art, music, and history.

Recitation and music for mezzo-soprano, English horn, bass clarinet, violin, viola, cello, double bass, and percussion with the ensemble MEMORIA TENERE, conducted by Radoslaw Pallarz.

Duration: approx. 2 hours (no intermission)
