Political cabaret with Alexis Bug and Kirstin Warnke
What would have become of Donald Trump if his grandfather had stayed in the Palatinate? Friedrich Trump's grandson would have been Toni – not Donald.
Today, Toni Trump is a successful master hairdresser in the Palatinate, having built a barbershop empire. This loudmouth from the Palatinate is determined to become mayor of Kallstadt, and he'll stop at nothing to achieve his goal. He doesn't need "Truth Social" – he spreads his alternative facts right there in his barbershop. In the small-town atmosphere of Kallstadt, he delivers a grand carnival speech that ends in a brawl. He fights the citizens' initiative for a car-free town center because they're targeting the customer parking spaces of "Salon Trump." He teaches his grandson the ropes of foul play, because only those who beat their opponents senseless win. The German Press Agency writes: "Sometimes a double seems more real than the original."
Alexis Bug plays his signature role: Toni Trump. The Berlin-based director and actor brings the big world of politics into this local comedy. It's about hubris, lust for power, and outrageous overconfidence. Washington becomes Kallstadt.
Alongside Alexis Bug, Kirstin Warnke, known from the ARD satire show "Extra 3," plays Toni's wife Ilona, the Slovenian housemaid Melania, and the feisty regular customer Alice Weidel.
The sound design is by Berlin-based radio play producer Paul Kuchenbuch.
