In their performance "They Watch Over You," the collective what about: fuego brings their deceased grandmothers onto the stage to look to the future through their past. Together, they explore strategies of resistance against digital surveillance economies.

Societies have long been under surveillance. But today, we are operating within an economic system that feeds on our personal data, emotions, desires, and bodies. Human experience itself has become the raw material of capitalism.

In a multimedia performance, the collective examines how corporations profit from data, predicting and influencing (consumer) behavior. Together with cyberfeminist sounds by ultramorbidi, the performance poses the question: How can people reclaim technology to escape surveillance capitalism?
