for the special exhibition "Bosporus Beats. Views of Istanbul from 1500 to 1800" (13.02.2026 to 31.05.2026)
Situated on the border between two continents, the metropolis of Istanbul—once Byzantium and Constantinople—has fueled the "Oriental fantasies" of numerous European artists since at least the Ottoman conquest in 1453.
The exhibition "Bosporus Beats" presents a wide selection of diverse perspectives from the rich treasures of the Kupferstichkabinett (Museum of Prints and Drawings) and, as is so often the case, offers a number of surprises. In addition, works from the Gemäldegalerie (Picture Gallery) and the Byzantine art collection of the Bode Museum are also featured.
