Views of Istanbul from 1500 to 1800
The Kupferstichkabinett (Museum of Prints and Drawings) invites you to the opening of the exhibition “Bosporus Beats: Perspectives on Istanbul from 1500 to 1800.”
Istanbul and its inhabitants are the focus of the exhibition, depicted in works on paper, including pieces by such renowned artists as Pollaiuolo, Dürer, Rembrandt, Liotard, and Chodowiecki. The exhibition spans from the conquest of Constantinople in 1453 to the first Ottoman embassy in Berlin in 1763. Curiosity and enthusiasm are as present as stereotypes and clichés. Contemporary artistic perspectives reflect on questions of identity and prejudice.
Opening on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the foyer of the Kulturforum
