Vanessa Porter / Samir Odeh-Tamimi
Entropy is often described in physics and thermodynamics as a measure of disorder. However, since disorder is not a defined physical concept, entropy can also be understood as a well-defined, objective measure of the amount of information required to infer the actual microstate of a system from an observable macrostate.
Drummer Vanessa Porter presents Samir Odeh-Tamimi's visual and acoustic polyrhythmic composition "Entropy," which explores the mixing of different events and systems within live electronic soundscapes. Rhythms become components of a closed system, which processually mix, condense, and unmix.
