Guidance

Bernauer Straße was one of the focal points of German division. The multifaceted consequences of the Berlin Wall's construction are visible here: the destruction of urban space and lives, the separation of family members and friends.

This tour also sheds light on the GDR's relationship with its Jewish population and with Israel in the context of the Cold War and reveals traces of Jewish life in Berlin within the former border strip.

The tour takes place as part of the 2026 Day of Democracy History.
