»Reaching, Grasping, Wondering«
As part of the Visiting Art/ist program, the Finnish Institute will present an annual exhibition of photographic artworks by the German-Finnish artist Kaarina-Sirkku Kurz in 2026.
The works on display, from the years 2023–2025, include both classic photographs and photograph-based works in which materiality takes center stage.
Kaarina-Sirkku Kurz studied photography in Bremen, Lahti, and Helsinki, and completed her master's degree at Aalto University. She has lived and worked in Berlin since 2013. The first Visiting Art/ist exhibition took place in 2015 and offered selected Finnish artists living in Berlin the opportunity to present their work to a professional audience.
The program has since been further developed, but continues to pursue the goal of showcasing contemporary art from Finland, increasing the visibility of the artists, and potentially initiating fruitful international follow-up projects.
