Greenland photographs by Ragnar Axelsson
The new solo exhibition “Arctic Heroes – Hidden Stories” at the Nordic Embassies transports visitors directly to the Arctic ice world. Renowned photographer Ragnar Axelsson is showing eighteen of his stunning black-and-white photographs from Greenland in Berlin until April 12, 2026.
The exhibition takes viewers on a journey through the daily lives of Inuit hunters and sled dogs in the Greenlandic Arctic, revealing the extraordinary relationships that the people of the Arctic have developed with their extreme environment.
For over 40 years, Ragnar Axelsson (born 1958), also known as Rax, has photographed people, animals, and landscapes in the most remote regions of the Arctic, including Iceland, Siberia, and Greenland. His photographs have been published in magazines such as LIFE, Newsweek, Stern, GEO, National Geographic, TIME, and Polka, and exhibited worldwide.
A documentary film about the photographic journey accompanies the exhibition, bringing the icy moments vividly to life.
