The Augen auf-Kinotag on 27 January is intended to draw a connection to the here and now. Stories from the past touch us in the present and influence our thoughts about the future.
The Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future wants to use the medium of film and cinema to create a low-threshold space for remembrance in which encounters, exchange and reflection are possible.
Background
The concept for the Eyes Wide Open Cinema Day on 27 January was triggered by the sharp increase in the repression and denial of history in politics and society, but also by the results of the MEMO youth study, which revealed gaps in factual knowledge about National Socialism in 2023.
