"We are very excited to get even more out of our instruments and ourselves," say cellist David Riniker and double bassist Janusz Widzyk, who formed the Philharmonia Duo in 2019 on the occasion of the Baden-Baden Easter Festival. What unites the two musicians is their many years of experience as members of the Berlin Philharmonic. Working with their orchestra colleagues and the great conductors of our time has had a decisive influence on their sound and their sense of outstanding interpretation. They want to bring this wealth of experience to bear in their joint music-making as a duo. Their goal: to broaden their own horizons and those of their instruments with arrangements of well-known, unknown, and new works from the music literature. "It's as if we've got a breath of fresh air under our wings. We are on a joyful journey of timeless beauty, of the interplay between our two instruments. Sometimes it's as if we are making the seemingly impossible possible." (Source: https://www.berliner-philharmoniker.de/ueber-uns/orchester/ensembles/philharmonia-duo/ )
