Günter Grass' last book - With wit and self-ironic distance

"Vonne Endlichkait" - Günter Grass's last book. Published shortly after his death in 2015, it contains, in addition to drawings and poems, short prose texts from the Nobel Prize winner's final years.

Once again, looking back, he rises to greatness in a small form. Political matters meet the personal; he addresses decay and the approaching end, accepting death as a part of life, yet hoping for another spring, counting the cuckoo's calls... With wit and self-deprecating distance.

The musicians' compositions and improvisations take up the texts recited by the speaker, play around with them, comment on them, provide direction and space, and thus add another dimension in which the texts fit together and begin to shine (new and different).

Günter Baby Sommer – for decades the 'tin drummer' and 'musician' (The Tin Drum, The Flounder, Once Upon a Time a Land, etc.) of the Nobel Prize winner's texts and a jazz icon himself, straddling tradition and avant-garde - dr, perc

Uwe Kropinski – the acoustic guitar wizard with an exceptional technical and musical repertoire and a gifted improviser - acc-gt

Michael Winkler – brass-playing multi-instrumentalist and musical jack-of-all-trades in styles ranging from folk and pop to free improvisation - tu, tb, tp, didgeridoo, fx, toys

Thomas Brückner – narrator (including Heine. Wie Neu! – Deutschland. Ein Wintermärchen, Nathan Re-Visited, Rühmkorf – Be Shaken and Resist) and concept "Vonne Endlichkait" - Speaker

The theater opens at 5:00 PM.
